About
One grower. One neighborhood. Trays that never see a truck.
Hi, I’m Daniel. I live in Red Bridge / Ruskin on the south side of Kansas City, and I started SoKC Micros for a simple reason: almost every green in this town travels a long way before it hits a plate, and it shows.
So I grow microgreens here at home — racks of trays under lights in my own grow room, seeded by hand, watered with filtered water, never sprayed with anything. They go from seed to your kitchen inside of about ten days, and the last mile is measured in minutes, not states.
No warehouse. No repackager. No middlemen. If something isn’t right with an order, you know exactly whose doorstep to find.
- Never sprayed
- Non-GMO seed
- Filtered water
- Hyper-local by design

The process
Seed to doorstep in about ten days
- Day 0
Soak & sow
Seed is measured per tray, soaked overnight, then sown by hand onto compost-free pads — density tuned per crop so every tray cuts the same.

Germinate under weight
Trays stack and press in blackout, forcing strong, even root sets. This is what makes a thick, uniform carpet of greens instead of a patchy one.

Under lights
Trays come out to full light, flipped daily and bottom-watered with filtered water. Nothing but seed, water, light and air touches them.

Grow out & check
Height, color and stand thickness get checked daily against the crop spec. Anything below standard stays home; you only ever see A-trays.

Harvest & deliver
Orders are pulled or cut the same morning they’re dropped across south KC. From harvest to your counter: hours.

Why microgreens, specifically?
Because they punch absurdly above their weight. A small tray delivers real nutrition, restaurant-level flavor, and a week of harvests from about one square foot of counter. For a hyper-local grower, nothing else comes close on freshness-per-footprint.
